As I get over one of the worst colds I’ve had since childhood; fever, aches, super congestion, and lung burning cough, I couldn’t help but write about this topic.
This is one of the most frequently asked questions during cold season. My simple answer is…. depends.
My rule of thumb is to always listen to your body. If you have minor symptoms “above the neck”, like a runny nose, mild congestion and a mild sore throat, exercise may help loosen up the congestion.
However, if you have a fever, can’t breathe, have aches, and are coughing up a lung … stay home!
Missing a few workouts won’t ruin all the progress you’ve made so far. And, besides, do you really want to do a workout when you feel like crap?
I know, for me, when I was at the height of this stupid cold, I barely had enough energy to go to the kitchen to get water, never mind doing a workout.
